In 1999, the First Agro-Industrial Rural Bank, Inc. (FAIR Bank) was established in Daanbantayan, in the northernmost tip of the province of Cebu, to serve its agricultural needs. Guided by its core values of Honor, Excellence, Attention to customers’ needs, Reliability, Target-driven, and Synergy (HEARTS), FAIR Bank’s branches all over Cebu province serve the needs of the communities they serve by offering banking services and loan products for micro, small and medium enterprises; and micro housing to name a few. Its Kaabag (Cebuano for helper) microfinance program is a response to the need for additional capital for women entrepreneurs in the area. The individual lending microfinance program PAMILYA, an acronym for Paggiya sa Paglambo Alang sa Yanong Ambisyon, that means “to provide guidance in order to attain every microentrepreneur’s simple ambition to grow and succeed in his/her business”, gives a microentrepreneur access to funds for business expansion.
