For more than thirty years, Lingap Pangkabataan, Inc. (Lingap), a non-government, non-stock, non-profit, faith-based social development organization, has successfully carried out its mission to help children in marginalized communities live life in all its fullness through its basic education, good nutrition and health care, as well as community development programs for the families of its beneficiaries in the different parts of the country. But it was not until the year 2004 that Lingap established its Microenterprise Development Program (MDP) to be able to go on with the programs and services after its funding partner decided to end its support to the organization.
Lingap MDP continues to provide capital to its increasing number of members in Metro Manila and nearby provinces and hopes “to contribute to the improvement of livelihood of the economically-challenged and entrepreneurial poor families”. It also offers microinsurance services. In keeping with Lingap’s mission of helping children and communities, the MDP readily gives assistance to community members during disasters. The program’s financial growth ensures that Lingap Pangkabataan, Inc.’s programs and services are sustained—for the children, their families, and respective communities.
