The Punla sa Tao Foundation, Inc. (Punla) envisions sustainable microfinance and business development organizations that support community economic development for the poor and disadvantaged. Punla works towards this vision by ensuring sustainable access of practitioners and advocates to current microfinance knowledge that will improve the microfinance institution’s financial viability, reach, efficiency and effectiveness through formal training, technical and management services on-site and institutional development, research and social investments. It also seeks to promote and develop entrepreneurial skills among micro-entrepreneurs through business development services such as training, access to information and markets, business management education and product development.
Punla is a non-stock, non-profit foundation organized in 1996 to build the capacity of institutions to provide sustainable microfinance and microenterprises development services for the poor in the Philippines and Asia. From 1997 to date , it has trained over 3,000 professional microfinance workers from 800 rural banks, cooperatives and NGOs all over the Philippines, Asia and South Pacific countries.
