The Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI) successfully co-hosted the 2024 Cerise+SPTF Annual Meeting on June 4-7, 2024 at The Manila Hotel, with the theme Building Responsible Finance Ecosystems: A Summit on Responsible Finance in Action. A total of 300 international and local participants attended the conference. The first day was packed with various training and workshop sessions focused on the Universal Standards for Social and Environment Performance Management, governance and risk management, and client protection.
Present during the opening plenary were Governor Eli Remolona, Jr. of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and Commissioner Javey Francisco of the Securities and Exchange Commission. MCPI and its member-institutions were presenters in various plenary and breakout sessions on responsible financial inclusion ecosystems, customer empowerment, social and environmental performance management, and managing vulnerability to climate shocks.
During the last day of the annual meeting, MCPI organized various field visits for meeting participants to showcase ASA Philippines and CARD’s financial services, K-Coop’s climate mitigation project focused on energy efficiency and utilization of renewable energy sources, and NWTF’s non-financial services (medical mission) aimed at decreasing vulnerability of communities.
