MCPI visits SELCO – a premier, renewable energy provider in Bangalore, India
A learning exchange visit was conducted by the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI) with the SELCO Solar Light Pvt. Ltd. (SELCO) in Bangalore, India last August 22-26, 2016. The activity was organized by MCPI under the Developing Sustainable Energy Access (DevSEA) program funded by ADA of Luxembourg. The delegation was comprised of representatives of DevSEA partner MFIs: Alalay Sa Kaunlaran, Inc. (ASKI), Negros Women for Tomorrow Foundation, Inc. (NWTF), Peoples Bank of Caraga, Inc. A partnership among the BSP, Citi Philippines, and the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI), the CMA is a nationwide search for the most outstanding micro business owners. Funded by Citi Foundation, it started in 2002 as part of the celebration for Citi’s 100th year in the Philippines. The CMA has since recognized more than 100 winners across the country. The objective of building the capacity of member institutions and delivering on its purpose of providing innovative, sustainable, and client-responsive solutions to poverty in the Philippines has encouraged the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc.
