The Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MCPI) held its 2018 annual conference on July 26-27, 2018 at the Century Park Hotel in Manila. The conference is MCPI’s annual event that brings together microfinance actors representing practitioners (microfinance NGOs, banks, finance and lending companies), funders, government institutions, donors, investors and other developmental organizations. This year, the conference carried the theme Going Back to Basics. The conference discussed the changes in the nature and complexion of microfinance in the Philippines and presented how a client-responsive approach to delivery of services could take the Philippine microfinance sector to greater heights and respond to the needs of poor and low-income households in the country.
