Microfinance institutions (MFIs) in the Philippines play a critical role in advancing financial inclusion, particularly among microenterprises, small-holder farmers, women, and low-income households. Operations staff are at the forefront of this effort, connecting clients to both financial and non-financial services. By implementing efficient, risk-based processes, performing careful monitoring and assessment, and maintaining robust branch-level systems, operations staff help more people access financial and non-financial services easily, efficiently, and responsibly.
In line with this, the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. organized the Microfinance Operations Staff Summit on April 7-8, 2026, at the Century Park Hotel, Manila, which was attended by 287 participants from 50 institutions. The summit had the following objectives:
- Identify MFI operational strategies that work in the field.
- Discuss and address operational issues and challenges experienced by field staff of MFIs.
- Allow operations staff to learn from the experience of different MFIs.
The summit is part of a series of events leading to the MCPI Annual Conference to be held on August 12-13, 2026.
